Powered PA Systems With Drive at Each Point
A powered PA system drives sound at each speaker point rather than from one central point alone. It suits rooms where speaker points sit far apart, or where different rooms need different levels at the same time.
Zone coverage diagram
A diagram of coverage zones and speaker nodes, drawn for this site. It describes how to talk about zones, not a single installation.
Where powered points change the brief
Where rooms differ a lot — a quiet office beside a busy hall — powered points change what the brief must ask. For powered points, the level question is per room: ask how each room's level is set and checked.
They also change the brief for phased sites. Phased briefs should ask how new rooms join: what routing, control, and capacity each new room needs, and whether existing rooms stay untouched.
Questions for a powered brief
A powered brief should name each room, its use, and the level it needs relative to its neighbours as well as in absolute terms, and ask what to measure so announcements stay audible and intelligible in each room.
The brief should also name where power reaches each point, in plain terms: which rooms have supply nearby, and which rooms need a longer route. Power routes are part of the brief, not a site detail to discover later.
Powered and central, side by side
Rooms that differ raise a powered-versus-central question; ask the supplier which arrangement suits each room and why.
